Tanya Rankin: Hi, it’s Tanya Rankin in Williams Lake. I wanted to tell you about a scam that is happening on the internet and it’s with Craigs List and Kijiji, and they, someone has posted one of my listings for rent on there. They reply with an email saying they live in overseas in Africa and you have to make the deposit and then they will hold it for you indefinitely. It’s a scam, first of all the house is for rent and second of all, don’t ever send money to someone that you have no clue who they are. I can’t get over the number of emails I have been getting and people calling me that have sent these people money in the way of a damage deposit and the whole thing is fabricated. The interior pictures are not the same as the listing that I have on my website as well as the fact they aren’t even the owner of the property and people are wiring them this damage deposit and it’s been reported to the police, the internet fraud, and its been reported to both Kijiji and Craigs List but the ad keeps coming up and people keep sending them money.
