Tanya Rankin: Hi it’s Tanya Rankin in Williams Lake. I want to thank Dave Peterson the deputy Minister of Forest for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk with me and depth about the reduction in the annual allowable cut here for the Cariboo. Up until now we were at 5.7 million cubic meters. And there was an announcement made that we were gonna be cutback by 2.7 million cubic meters and I had quite a few people contact me that were concerned about what that meant with respect to their property values and how it’s going to impact Cariboo in which of course I often say this but if I had a crystal ball would be idle I will feel confident in being able to advise people but short to that crystal ball I need to reach out to people that I feel or an expert in the field and can help us make an informed decision. So I reached this people on the phone and first question of course that I had is how much have we been cutting over the course that last couple a years and why that it was important to me is if we were never cutting 5.7 million it may not be as big of an impact as what that staggering cutback number actually sounds or appears to be so what is response was is your absolutely right we’ve been cutting about 3.3 million and he expects that to be sustainable into the future so that’s not to say that again we know it’s gonna be 5 years or it’s gonna be 7 but the hope is it’s going to be a longer period of time than a shorter period of time. And with the current cutback bringing us down to 3 million if we’ve only been cutting 3.3 million I think this is great news. If you have any questions send me an email anytime to tanya@tanyarankin.com and i hope you have a fantastic week!
